The Ragdoll owes its name to the fact that it goes limp when being picked up. Just like a Rag doll! Although most cats will go limp in the owner's arms if it feels secure and safe.
The Ragdoll was developed by a california cat breeder name Ann Baker in the mid-1960s. It is a large and impressive cat, stockily built with heavy bone structure. Males weighs 7-9kg and females 4.5-7kg. Ragdoll colours comes in seal, blue, chocolate, lilac, red, and cream. Patterns come in bi-color, van, mitted and pointed. Points may be solid, lynx, or tortie. CFA accepts bi-colors and vans for showing; mitteds and pointeds are registered.
Ragdolls temperament are good and docile. It is unwilling to fight and protest which makes it good with children. It's non-combative nature makes it more suitable for indoor life.
